When asked if the event would be cancelled if they don’t sell their 125 men’s tickets, Alan replied: “I will sell them, that’s guaranteed.” Mi [email protected] will be in Taste of Dublin, Iveagh Gardens, on Sunday from 4.30 to 8.30pm.The event marquee will be kitted out with the Wigwam Boys, of Electric Picnic fame, DJ Dee Reddy of Phantom FM and 1990s cover group Smash Hits.
“It is about broadening the circles of people you mix with.
The fact that they are all single – well it’s just an added bonus.
“Mi [email protected] is different and is present at big social events you’d otherwise want to attend.” But the couple, who have described the event as “all craic, no cheese”, won’t be leaving their single ladies to chat up each other if they don’t find enough available men.
A singles event desperately needs eligible bachelors after most of the tickets were snapped up by ladies.
Mi [email protected] – the brain child of Dublin couple Alan Kennedy and Nikki Dwyer – will pitch a marquee filled with live music and food stalls at this weekend’s Taste of Dublin.
Alan, 37, and 32-year-old Nikki have nearly sold all of their 125 women’s tickets – but only 40 fellas have booked to attend Sunday’s party.
Alan, who met Nikki at a singles event last year, said: “Men often have different priorities, so that might explain why we haven’t sold as many tickets to them.
“Men like the idea of meeting someone but it’s not a priority, whereas women are a lot more focused on what they want.
“Women are more planned and structured in their life, but men in general are more spur of the moment.” The inaugural Mi [email protected] event, which Alan and Nikki have launched alongside busy working lives and studying, aims to bring dating back to basics and away from social media.
Now Alan is sending an SOS for all the single men of Ireland to head down to a singles event stripped of any “corny gimmicks”.
He added: “Hopefully what will appeal to them is the knowledge that there are single women out there who are up for having a bit of fun at an event with a cool festival vibe.
